Mold spores are airborne and settle on dust. Just add moisture and these mold spores will grow. Vacuuming alone is not effective for sanitizing home, office, or public spaces. Dead or alive, mold and mildew have a profound impact on private and public spaces.
HEALTH RISKS – MOLD & MILDEW
WebMD defines mold as “… small organisms can be black, white, orange, green, or purple and live almost anywhere indoors and outside. Molds thrive on moisture and reproduce through lightweight spores that travel through the air.”
The EPA explains, “Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Mold does not have to be alive to cause an allergic reaction.”
Individuals with impacted and weak immune systems are susceptible to mold. Symptoms of mold allergies can range from “hay fever” that affects the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs. Pneumonitis is also reported as having an association with mold; this is a bacterial infection that presents itself like pneumonia. Health conditions reported to be associated with mold and yeast include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Skin irritation
- Allergic reactions
- Aggravated asthma symptoms
Commonly used places that utilize water can easily trap moisture including laundry rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, garages, warehouses, storage units – and more – make combatting mold and mildew an ongoing challenge.

In addition, bleach must have a “wet time” of 15-minutes to be effective on surfaces that are not rinsed. This translates to saturating bleach on surfaces and floors and filling rooms with toxic fumes. Without adequate “wet time” and proper ventilation, all this effort simply pushes microbes, dust, and dirt throughout the surface. Unpleasant odors are not welcoming in public or private environments.
